Success Stories – Mindaugas: “from driver to project coordinator”

Mindaugas’ Success Story in Germany with Baltic Employees 🌟

Mindaugas is a great example of how consistent work and courage to embrace new challenges can open doors to a successful career abroad. His journey with Baltic Employees began as a driver, responsible for transporting employees to the factory. His responsibility and ability to adapt to various situations were quickly noticed, leading to his current role as a coordinator.

In this story, you’ll learn how he overcame the language barrier, tackled daily challenges, and what benefits he sees in working abroad. Mindaugas‘ experience is inspiring and shows that determination, self-confidence, and a desire to grow can take you far.

How did you find out about Baltic Employees?

I learned about Baltic Employees from an acquaintance who had recently gone on a work assignment. He shared his experience, which intrigued me. Since I was looking for temporary work at the time, I immediately contacted the agency and quickly received several attractive offers. I was pleased with how fast and clear the process was.

What were you doing before deciding to go to Germany?

Before that, I mostly worked as a driver, traveling both abroad and within Lithuania. I had considerable experience in logistics, which helped me adapt quickly to new jobs. Additionally, I had spent about five years living in England, where I worked various jobs. This inspired me to go abroad again, face new challenges, and broaden my horizons.

What projects have you worked on?

I started with a project in Munich, where I worked as a driver responsible for transporting people to and from the factory. It was an excellent start, helping me better understand the nature of the job. Later, I was invited to another project in Hamburg, where I also worked in employee transportation. After that, I spent a few months in Berlin as an assistant worker. This experience was valuable, as it allowed me to get involved in various tasks. Soon after, I returned to Munich, where I resumed my role as a driver. It was during this project that I was offered the coordinator position, marking a significant milestone in my career. Currently, I am working as a project coordinator, where I feel confident.

How would you describe living with other employees and the accommodation? Were there any disagreements?

Living with other employees was relatively smooth. Of course, flexibility and adaptation to shared living rules were sometimes required. The accommodation was comfortable, considering it is temporary housing for work abroad. I believe such experiences help develop patience and teamwork skills.

How was your communication with coordinators?

Communication with coordinators and managers went very well. I appreciated their availability and readiness to help. Whenever I had questions or issues, I would always get quick answers, and we worked together to find solutions. Such collaboration not only made work efficient but also made me feel more engaged in the team.

How did you adapt to the project pace and overcome challenges?

Adapting to the fast work pace wasn’t difficult since I was already accustomed to intense work rhythms from previous experiences. Regarding challenges, the managers were a great help, as they willingly shared their experience and advice. They were always ready to assist in solving complex situations, so even new challenges became valuable lessons and opportunities to grow.

How did you get the coordinator position? What were your feelings about the offer?

I hadn’t considered the coordinator position before, as I didn’t think it was within my expertise. However, I received the offer during a face-to-face meeting with the project manager. It was a pleasant surprise that caught me off guard. I agreed almost immediately because I wanted to test myself in a new role and gain broader experience. This opportunity brought a lot of enthusiasm, self-confidence, and curiosity.

How do you feel in your new role, and what does your daily routine look like? What challenges do you face now?

The beginning was really exciting, as almost every day I encountered new situations and had to find quick and effective solutions. I learned a lot from the manager, who also served as a mentor. His advice and assistance helped me quickly settle into my new role. Now, the work feels much simpler, although the German language barrier is still a challenge. Despite this, daily tasks have become clearer, and I feel more confident in my decisions.

How long did you work as an assistant, and how long have you been a coordinator?

I have been working with Baltic Employees since February 2023, with some breaks. I worked as an assistant for several months, and I’ve been in the coordinator position for five months now. During this time, I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience that has helped me grow as a professional.

How did you manage to overcome the German language barrier? Have you improved your language skills?

For now, I mainly communicate in English, which I speak well. I am still learning German and trying to master the basic phrases and terms necessary for work. In the future, I hope to significantly improve my German language skills, as this would be a great advantage both at work and in daily life.

What advice would you give to those considering working abroad?

I’d advise not to be discouraged by negative reviews and to take the leap. For those willing to work, opportunities are certainly provided, and working conditions largely depend on one’s attitude. It’s essential to be prepared to adapt to a new environment and challenges, as this can be an excellent opportunity for personal and professional growth.

We thank Mindaugas for his openness and the chance to share his story. 🌟
