August’s Hero: Rita’s Story
Rita, the hero of August, traveled through us to work in Germany for the first time. As with anyone going abroad to work for the first time, there was fear and uncertainty. However, Rita speaks positively about her start in the job search. She learned about Baltic Employees through Facebook:
“I found information about work in Germany in a Facebook group called ‘Work in Germany.’ We signed the contract in Panevėžys. They explained all the terms, potential penalties, and other important details. They also reassured us that we could always reach out to the project manager if we had any questions.”
When Rita received the offer to go work, she agreed without hesitation. She recalls:
“Everything happened quickly but thoughtfully. I worked in a cosmetics factory from November 20th to May 24th. I can honestly say – I really enjoyed the job. Although the language barrier sometimes caused difficulties, I was fascinated by the nature of the work, and I would love to return there again.”
While Rita was impressed by the job and expressed her desire to return to the cosmetics factory, during our conversation, we explored what working in the factory entailed.
“The work in the factory was diverse – we placed bottles on the production line, screwed on caps, checked quality, ensured labels were properly placed, and verified all numbers were correct. We also checked if the bottles were securely closed and finally packed and palletized them. Although the job wasn’t physically demanding, it required a lot of activity. However, the working conditions in the factory met my expectations.”
Rita also shared her experience with the accommodation:
“Everything was very clean, the landlords were wonderful and youthful, and everything was truly tidy and nice.”
She highlights that traveling to work was always a pleasure:
“We lived 3.5 km from the factory. If we drove, it took 7 minutes; on foot, about 15 minutes. The commute was convenient and posed no issues.”
With a smile, Rita offers encouraging words to those considering working abroad with Baltic Employees:
“It was my first time working abroad. I was scared, but I went with a good friend. We thought that if things didn’t go well, we’d have each other for support. But having a friend by my side reduced the fear significantly. For me, everything went smoothly, but that’s just my experience. Everyone’s experience might be different. I would advise people to try and not fear working abroad. If you like it – great; if not – you can always return home. Everyone’s journey is unique, so it’s worth trying and finding what works best for you.”
