Jūratė’s journey with Baltic Employees began a year ago when she became a candidate despite not planning to work abroad. As Jūratė recalls:
“A year ago, I randomly came across a Baltic Employees ad on social media offering jobs abroad. Although I wasn’t actively looking for a job at the time, the thought stayed in my mind that maybe someday I’d go.”
For a year, Jūratė remained on the Baltic Employees candidate list, but she admits that the waiting period allowed her to decide on her own terms whether working abroad was the right choice. She remembers the initial hesitation with a smile:
“Back then, I was scared and spent a year debating whether it was worth going abroad to work. But after a year, I decided I wanted to challenge myself in a new environment.”
After much contemplation, Jūratė finally agreed to test her skills by working in Germany. Speaking about the recruitment process, she said:
“It was very fast and straightforward. I got a call on Thursday, signed the contract on Friday, and by Saturday, I was already in Germany. I didn’t even have much time to overthink it, but I definitely don’t regret the rush. Every new adventure is a valuable experience,” she laughs.
When asked about her experience on the project, Jūratė shared that everything was going well and she was happy with the work.
“I’ve been working on my first project – at a cheese factory in Germany – for three months now, and I’m pleased with my decision. The start wasn’t easy. Leaving Lithuania, my home, and my loved ones was a real challenge. I had heard it might be difficult and unpredictable abroad, but I am very satisfied with my job. I managed to focus and adapt to the new conditions. The local Germans, who work here every day, are very friendly, as are my colleagues from Ukraine, so the work atmosphere is excellent.”
Jūratė is full of praise for the Baltic Employees project coordinators.
“The project coordinators are truly great people, always helpful and supportive. Although I haven’t needed much assistance over these three months, any issues that arise are resolved quickly.”
Although Jūratė plans to return to Lithuania to rest, we asked if she would consider going back to work in Germany with Baltic Employees. She confidently replied that she definitely would, though she’s unsure of the timing:
“Of course, I would go abroad to work again, though right now, I’m not sure what I want to do in the future. I’m in a phase of uncertainty, but that doesn’t hold me back. The most important thing is not to be afraid to try and seek new opportunities.”
During the conversation, Jūratė smiled and laughed often. When asked if she would recommend Baltic Employees to others considering working abroad, she strongly encouraged anyone interested to take the leap:
“I wholeheartedly recommend this agency to anyone thinking about working in Germany. Don’t be afraid to try something new. I spent a year debating and being scared, but I eventually realized it’s important to move forward and embrace challenges. The accommodation was great, and my coworkers were friendly and calm. I had heard a lot of scary stories about life abroad, but my experience was entirely positive. Of course, everything depends on the individual – some people like it, others don’t – but adaptability is key. No matter where you are, in Lithuania or abroad, you’ll encounter all kinds of people and situations. This experience showed me that anything is possible if you have courage and determination. I also learned that every environment has its challenges, and being adaptable is crucial. But above all, never be afraid to try new things and pursue your goals.”
